Bully Pulpit Interactive Hires Addie Whisenant As Director On The West Coast
Bully Pulpit Interactive (BPI) is excited to announce a new director, Addie Whisenant. Whisenant will join BPI’s newly opened office in San Francisco, CA and work across tech, corporate and advocacy clients alongside BPI partners Ben LaBolt and Ben Coffey Clark who are overseeing the office expansion on the West Coast.
“From the White House to Capitol Hill to political campaigns, Addie’s experience tackling some of the most pertinent communications challenges of our time will be a great asset to our teams and clients,” said BPI partner, Ben LaBolt. “Addie understands that the walls have come down between communications and digital and the best communications strategies use all channels to reach their target audience.”
Whisenant previously served as director of African American media for The White House, where she provided strategic communications counsel to President Barack Obama and senior Administration officials on a range of policy issues including civil rights, healthcare, environmental and technology. Prior to working at the White House, she served as Press Secretary at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, National Spokesperson for the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Committee and Regional Press Secretary for Obama for America (2012) where she oversaw communications in a number of states and played a vital role in the campaign’s victory in the crucial battleground state of Florida. She is also a veteran of Capitol Hill having served as Press Secretary and primary spokesperson for Congressman Barney Frank and the House Committee on Financial Services as well as Communications Director for Congressman Artur Davis (AL-7).
Whisenant’s deep experience in the public sector will assist BPI clients with strategic insight about how to promote and protect reputations in the constantly changing political landscape. Her communications background will expand BPI’s ongoing integrated services across earned, owned and paid media.
